  • Supports universal background checks, no fly no buy, banning assault weapons, banning bump stocks, fully funding the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, better mental health screening before gun purchases and limited magazine sizes.
  • Co-sponsored the Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device Act to ban large-capacity ammunition.
  • Co-sponsored the Fire Sale Loophole Closing Act to ban the "fire sale" of firearms after delicensing closure.
  • Supported closing the Gun Show Loophole to close the gun show loophole.

  • H.R.1612, closing the gun show loophole
  • H.R. 3984, making gun manufacturers liable for injuries and deaths resulting from intentional improper use of their products
  • H.Res. 367, establishing a select committee on gun violence prevention
  • H.Res. 370, requiring a standing committee hearing be held whenever there is a moment of silence in the House for a tragedy involving gun violence.
  • H.R. 2670, to protect victims of domestic violence and stalking
  • H.R. 3947, banning bump stock devices
  • H.R. 3962, to stop online ammunition sales
  • H.R. 4052, to ban high-capacity magazines
  • H.R. 4786, to give priority for COPS grant funding to state and local LEOs that have state or local laws requiring reporting lost or stolen police firearms

  • H.R. 4186, prohibits individuals with temporary restraining orders from dating partners, schools, or employers from buying or possessing a firearm.

Supports Connecticut state-level policies enacted:

  • Banned sale or purchase of magazines capable of holding more than ten rounds of ammunition (as was used by Adam Lanza).
  • Added more than 100 guns to the state‚Äôs list of banned assault weapons.
  • Banned armor-piercing bullets.
  • Created a registry of people convicted of crimes involving the use or threat of dangerous weapons, available only to law enforcement.
  • Mandated background checks for all gun purchases, including at gun shows.
