Denying health care to women

Anti-abortion activists are getting exactly what they want from the Trump administration: a steady stream of attacks against a woman's constitutionally-protected right to choose.

The latest? Donald Trump's proposed restrictions on federally-funded family planning programs and restrictions on conversations women can have with their medical providers.

In other words, Donald Trump's gag rule. Silence. Driving health care choices back into the shadows, putting lives at risk.

Specifically, Donald Trump's proposed rule states: "A Title X project may not perform, promote, refer for, or support, abortion as a method of family planning, nor take any other affirmative action to assist a patient to secure such an abortion."

Here's a great graphic from our friends at NARAL explaining the rule:

Doctors and nurses in clinics and hospitals across the country serve four million low-income patients who rely on Title X for birth control and reproductive care. Intrusions into what doctors and nurses can say compromises patient care.

I have fought against efforts to roll back women's reproductive freedoms at every turn. I'm not backing down. Congress must fully fund family planning programs and protect vital services like Planned Parenthood.
