Stamford, CT—Businessman and non-profit executive Jim Himes, the Democratic candidate for Congress in Connecticut’s Fourth Congressional District, issued the following statement today on the death of conservative author and Stamford resident William F. Buckley:
"I extend my sincerest condolences today to the friends and family of William F. Buckley. For so much of his long and accomplished life, Mr. Buckley called Stamford his home.
"Whether or not one agreed with his politics, Mr. Buckley was a uniquely powerful force in the intellectual history of this nation who always showed generous respect to critics and adversaries. His influence on the political discourse of our country, as well as on those who were closest to him personally and professionally, will continue for decades to come."
